Vellimalai is famous for the Lord Murugan Temple called as "Bala
Subramaniya Swamy Koil" located atop of the hill Vellimalai. The temple
attracts lot of pilgrims from the surrounding areas. The famous
festivals of the temple are "Sasti Sura Samkaram"- killing of Suran, the
demon leader by Lord Bala Subramaniya Swamy and Vaikasi Visakam. From
the top of the hill the major part of the green Vellore District
can be viewed, which will be a mind blowing experience for nature
lovers.
This place is awesome for trekking and nature lovers, it has many things to be seen apart from the temple, like the stone carving, Jain Cave, and natural rope swings. This place in better to be visited in a non rainy season, and in winter times. Just 20km away from Vellore, you can find many auto rikhsaw taking Rs 200-Rs 250 to drop you here, or at every 15mins there is bus that will take only Rs 9 per person as a charge. To reach this temple you have to climb a total of around 400 stairs and in between you will see a clear vegetation change. And from the top it is just memorable to look around. There are lot of trekking space at the back side of temple too. When you will be entering this small town you will be welcomed by a huge decorated gate, and later you will be seeing a Lake, and after wards the climb to Temple will start.Vibhu's Klicks!
